2020 Summit Session: Building Gender Equitable Food Systems

Women are key actors in global food systems, yet face significant hurdles in reaching their potential as producers and agribusiness owners while navigating cultural norms and expectations.
This session will focus on surfacing promising existing approaches and solutions to making food systems more equitable, from farm to plate. We will discuss evidence on what works to advance gender equality and the empowerment of women in food systems, the opportunities and barriers to take these solutions to scale. The key questions include: How can food systems be transformed in ways that address gender inequalities? How can we build women’s leadership in the food system – from farmer organizations and civil society to policy-makers and agribusiness owners?
