Abstract:

Mentorship is an important process for developing future agricultural and policy researchers. In this seminar, we reflect on the process of mentorship in food policy research and derive specific lessons from IFPRI’s experience in the last three decades. We will discuss various models of mentorship and their contribution to developing policy research capacity in the national research and policy systems. As we embark on new research initiatives and the associated sharing of the capacity, it is useful to understand how mentorship could be an effective approach to bringing technical knowledge and practical applications to solving research and policy problems in the economic development process.
