The International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) Africa office proudly announces its Strategy for Engagement with the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP) for 2026-2035. Building on decades of collaboration and support, this new strategy underscores IFPRI’s commitment to advancing agrifood system transformation, food security, resilience, and economic growth across Africa.

Africa’s agricultural landscape faces evolving challenges and opportunities, from sustainable food production to inclusivity and climate resilience. Rooted in CAADP’s framework and informed by the 2014 Malabo Declaration, CAADP 2026-2035 sets ambitious objectives to intensify food production, foster agro-industrialization, strengthen governance, and enhance inclusivity across the continent. IFPRI, with its wealth of experience and longstanding partnership with CAADP, is uniquely positioned to help achieve these transformative goals.

Strategic Highlights:

  • Evidence-Based Research: Leveraging data and insights to inform policymaking and track CAADP progress through tools like the Biennial Review and ReSAKSS.
  • Capacity Development: Training policymakers and strenghtening institutions to enhance decision-making at continental, regional, and national levels.
  • Technical and Policy Support: Helping governments and stakeholders design actionable solutions for sustainable agriculture and investment.
  • Resilience Building: Supporting climate-smart agriculture, risk management, and adaptive strategies to safeguard Africa’s food systems.
  • Inclusive Development: Promoting equity, gender-sensitive policies, and youth employment in agrifood systems.

By adopting an integrated approach, IFPRI will work closely with other CGIAR centers to support CAADP 2026-2035 with robust technical expertise, collaborative partnerships, and a focus on implementation systems. Together with national governments, regional partners, and private sector partners, IFPRI aims to accelerate Africa’s agricultural transformation while ensuring measurable impacts on food security and livelihoods.
