The National Conference on “Reimagining Youth Employment in Kenya’s Agrifood Systems: Evidence, Innovation, and Opportunities”

National Conference

IFPRI Kenya in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation and the World Food Programme to Convene a National Dialogue on Advancing Dignified and Fulfilling Youth Employment in Kenya’s Agrifood Systems for Young Women and Men

The International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) Kenya, in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation and the World Food Programme (WFP), will host two linked national events in Nairobi on 18 and 19 November 2026 to advance dignified and fulfilling employment opportunities for young people across Kenya’s agrifood value chains.

The events are part of the project Strengthening Food Systems to Promote Increased Value Chain Employment Opportunities for Youth, which aims to generate evidence and identify effective approaches for expanding innovative, digitally enabled, dignified and fulfilling livelihood opportunities for young people, particularly young women, across agrifood systems.

The National Roundtable Meeting themed “Translating Evidence into Action: Advancing Dignified and Fulfilling Youth Employment in Kenya’s Agrifood Value Chains”

The roundtable will bring together key stakeholders from the agrifood sector for focused knowledge exchange and dialogue. Discussions will center on identifying evidence-based strategies to advance dignified and fulfilling employment opportunities for young women and men across Kenya’s agrifood value chains. A high-level discussion with key partners and stakeholders will explore the research, the challenges young people face, and the solutions that can be offered.

The National Conference themed, “Reimagining Youth Employment in Kenya’s Agrifood Systems: Evidence, Innovation, and Opportunities“

The conference will convene government, research institutions, development organizations, the private sector, civil society and youth networks for an in-depth look at the research so far and the role each partner can play in advancing youth employment. Sessions will focus on sharing research findings, exploring innovative solutions, addressing barriers to youth employment, and identifying opportunities to strengthen young people’s participation in agrifood value chains.
