Jemimah Njuki, IFPRI’s Director for Africa, has been named one of the 100 Most Influential People in Gender Policy 2021 by Apolitical, the peer-to-peer learning platform for government.

Rwanda recognizes nutrition as a challenge that persists even as the country advances along a trajectory of rapid economic growth.

The MoU was signed by Elvira Pruscini, Deputy Regional Director for WFP, and Dr. Jemimah Njuki, Director for Africa of IFPRI, and was moderated by Jennifer Jacoby, Head of Partnerships at WFP.

There is a need to change our approach to women and youth in agriculture. We need to stop thinking that the solution to making agriculture more accessible and inclusive is to ‘fix’ women and youth.

CGIAR has a strong presence in Africa, contributing important evidence on different aspects of agriculture and throughout the food system, from production to consumption, for nutrition.

Africa’s rural transformation is hampered by the difficulties and missed opportunities farmers face in accessing markets. Many of these problems can be traced to farmers’ individual struggles.

The two countries represent similarities and differences in COVID-19 trajectories and implications. Both countries underwent strict lockdowns around the same time (March 23 for Senegal and March 24 for Nepal).

The next BR report is expected to be released at the AU Summit in 2022, using data measured from 2015 to 2020. With the COVID-19 global pandemic , many of the BR indicators measured in 2020 may see big changes for the worse.
